It’s back – Rock Talk 2022 is back on the SEG calendar.  We had decided to postpone the annual event. However several people have stepped up with suggestions for how we can make it happen, safely and creatively . Thanks to their volunteer efforts, you can catch Rock Talk 2022 over 2 morning sessions, Wednesday February 23 and Thursday February 24.
 
Details are still being worked out but we anticipate Rock Talk will feature online presentations with a choice of in-person or virtual attendance. Stay tuned for more information during January. Looking back a year, Smithers Exploraton Group staged a super successful virtual Rock Talk 2021 with a near-record registration of 95 people.

Last year Rock Talk ran February 18 and 19 via Zoom and attracted a wide audience thanks to the on-line format. The  theme was  “Advancing Discoveries in a World Class Mineral District” with highlights from projects that had significant discoveries in the past few years, and a showcase on new techniques and methodologies used to better identify previously undiscovered zones of extensive mineralization.  Abstracts for all the presentations are available here.

Attendees were also invited to check out SEG’s Rock Room collection of more than 2000 Cordilleran rock suites with online 3D photographs of key samples in the collection done by Below BC.

SEG appreciates all the support that made the conference possible, especially a sponsorship package from Minerals North.  They had to cancel Minerals North for 2021 due to COVID limitations but they offered to help SEG out with a donation to cover some of our costs…much appreciated.
